Frequent crash at opening a group that has some groups (in it as children) and some other stuffs

Question

Below is what I can copy | paste from the Windows 8.1 64bits crash report. This has been happening when I work with nested groups under similar conditions. The crash strikes whenever I click on the parent group to see or work with its content.

My guess would be that there is a problem with your Java version. Which version of Java are you using (see "Help" -> "About")?

However, if you upload a GraphML file of one of the problematic diagrams (see How to upload files to yEd Q&A? for instructions on uploading files), I will check on our test machines as well.

The version of Java I'm using is 1.8.0_91. I have both 64 and 32 bits installed. However, they are installed not on hard drive C, but on another drive where I have all my non-system applications including Java and yEd.

I'm so sorry I am responding so late despite the fact that I was eagerly waiting for your answer, the reason being that I get notified of posts on this forum by a rss/atom/xml syndication program and I discovered today that something is wrong with the logic it uses to notify since I can see comments arrive but not all the answers to those comments. In fact I find it strange since I noticed today that some answers get to my news reader and some others not. Not sure if it is a problem of this particular forum or the syndication service I use.

Well, I have not been able to reproduce this problem. Either your double installation has broken one or both of your Java installation in a way that  just does not happen for me or you do something when working with groups that I simply did not think of. Thus I would like to ask once more if you can upload a sample GraphML file and add a step-by-description on how to trigger the crash for that specific file.

I normally install Java according to instructions on Java's web page found here: https://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp

"If you use 32-bit and 64-bit browsers interchangeably, you will need to install both 32-bit and 64-bit Java in order to have the Java plug-in for both browsers."

I use two different internet browsers that adjust to the above scenario, from there the need for both, the 32 and 64bits flavors of java. I use other java based programs and have no problems with them, at least known problems related to java.

One more detail about the crash that I recently discovered that may help you trace what might be originating the issue:

I have groups inside groups, all nested, making a total of 4 levels deep ~ as I said previously. When I Ctrl+ mouse wheel to zoom in/out on any of the levels and I do this up to certain limit, I get the crash in return.

PS. My map is made of private content. How can I send you a map with this characteristic if I want to honor my privacy? Maybe you are a genius with a pretty high IQ and probably don't need my map ;)

yEd has a tool for removing sensitive data, see "Tools" -> "Anonymize". Running this tool on your diagram will create a structure-only copy. Try reproducing the problem with said copy. If that is possible, sent us the copy instead of the original.

Hi:

I have sent the map as an attachment in my previous response above.

It seems that there is no way to attach a file to be uploaded by using the reply option, so I had to resource to using the answer facility. This is maybe the reason why you have not come up with a solution to the crash so far.

PS.: The way this forum is built makes is a little complicated to be used since some aspects of it are not immediately obvious or are not intuitive.

I finally found some time for testing but was not able to reproduce this problem. Thus I am now convinced that the problem lies with your specific setup - if not with the Java installation by itself, it is maybe a problem of Java not working well with your graphics driver. The fact that your error report is actually not a Java exception but an native Windows error report related to a Windows library (dcpr.dll) is another strong argument for a problem outside of yEd.
