create a graph from an excel (or more convenient format) files

Hi,

I must create a graph to visualize a network. My problem is really trivial:

how can I tell yEd which are the nodes and how can i set the edges as well.

If I try to open a file  a bunch of settings appear both for edge list and nodes list. What do they represent?

Is there a simple way, like using an excel file to set a coloumn for the nodes and then tell the program somehow which are the links I want to have to relate different nodes.

I couldn't find this anywhere.
