How to merge edges between closed groups?

0 votes
I have a huge flowchart, about the distribution of our companies' products. The company sells to different distributors, which itself sell to different subdistributors.

The number of nodes is imense, so that i grouped them in "distributors", "subdistributors" "endcustomers" and "direct clients".

But the chart even with closed groups shows all the edges (over 400) between the single nodes.

I want to merge the edges betwenn the closed groups for a better visual overview.

How can I do that?

Thanks in advance,

Tom

One possible solution would be running hierarchical layout with option "Automatic Edge Grouping" from tab "Edges" enabled.

Thank you very much Thomas Behr! This helps me a lot! What are th eother options? Want to check out if its even better.

By the way, your name sounds german / austrian.

Well, other alternatives would be "Tools" -> "Route Parallel Edges" with option "Line Distance" set to "0" and "Tools" -> "Constraints" -> "Edge Grouping". With the latter tool, you can specify explicit/manual edge groups for hierarchical layout instead of using said algorithm's "Automatic Edge Grouping" feature. The tool is more flexible but also much more cumbersome to use.
