How can I remove apperently unused blank space from my drawing?

0 votes

Greetings.

As you can see, my graph consists only of a single swimlane node. All further nodes are within the swimlane. Nevertheless, the overview and print preview are showing that there is a lot of unused space in the upper left corner.

Consequently the graph is squeezed in the lower right corner on the print out.

yEd is obviously thinking that there is some content in the top-left corner.

Copying the swimlane to a new file doesn't work. Therefore I conclude, the problem is located within the swimlane thing.

I will not hesitate to follow any recommondations... ;-)

These are the properties of the swimlane thing:

Hard to tell. The empty space might be due to you moving the elements of your diagram to the lower right or there might actually be an isolated or invisible element up there.

If it is simply empty space, "fit content" (toolbar, 7th from right) will help.

If it is not simply empty space, I will need the GraphML file to find the element in the upper left corner. (See How to upload files to yEd Q&A? for details on uploading files.)

Hey.

"Fit content" leads not to the desired result.

Therefore, here is the graphml.

The node moved even further to the right. I have no idea why, or how this happend.

There are two invisible edges that connect node "Restmenge über Bestellbestand?" to the swimlane node "Ersatzteilmanagement". (These edges are invisible because they lie completely inside their target.) Both of these edges have a single edge label that is placed very far apart from the edge.

Problems like these can be fixed by moving the child node out of its parent node (using SHIFT+drag). This results in the problematic edges becoming visible which means you can then easily select and delete those edges. After doing that, restore the original position and parent-child relationship (again using SHIFT+drag).

Here is the corrected version of your file.

Great. Now everythings perfact again.

Would have never thought, that an edge wil have a result like this.

Thanks again.
