Create edge from node to group border

+3 votes

Sorry, this is a follow up to my previous question, but I couldn't figure out how to get this dialogue with the upload image button without starting a new question thread. Anyway, this is the behavior I am looking fo but cannot produce without an invisible node on the right:

node2groupborder

Thank you very much for the mockup.

Actually, you can connect a child node to its parent group. However, such connections are not displayed, because yEd automatically clips edges at the border of their source and target nodes. I.e. everything inside either source or target node is not visible. And in this case, the edge lies completely inside its target node.

Your approach using an invisible dummy node is probably the best workaround for this problem.

OK thanks, I will just use the dummy node for now. I am changing this one to a feature request for the long term.

Something is just not right here. If I choose "Arc" type for edge it dissapears after connection as always, but after layout (Ortogonal in this example) it perfectly appears inside the group node without a problem. If only other edges performed like this.
