Update graph in GraphMLViewer without reloading GraphMLViewer.swf ?

Is there some way  to do a minor update (eg. change an edge color) of a graph output by yEd and being diplayed by GraphMLViewer without reloading the GraphMLViewer.swf  file?      If possible, would it be via ExternalInterface or some other mechanism accessed by additional Javascript in the related html file?
