Cannot start or uninstall yED 3.19 on win 7

Question

yED v3.19 on WIN 7 can't open the program after the initial install opening and cannot uninstall the program. Getting error message: "the program can't start because api-ms-win-core-localization-l1-2-0.dll is missing from your computer." Re-downloaded and re-installed with same issue. When trying to un-install the program I get the message: "yED Graph editor has stopped working" The file does exist on my computer.

How do I get this program to work or get it off of my computer. Thanks

How to get yEd to work:

If you cannot get the installers to work (e.g. because you still have a 32bit operating system installed), you can use the following approach:

1. Try installing a Java runtime environment that is compatible with your operating system.
2. Download the Zipped yEd Jar file for 32-bit and 64-bit operating systems from the yEd download site,
3. unzip the archive into a directory of your choosing, and finally
4. double-click the yed.jar file in the new directory.

 

How to get yEd off your computer:

If uninstall does not work, simple delete the directory into which you installed yEd as well as the yEd profile directory.
