Adding Swim-lanes to a created workflow

How can I add swimlanes to an existing workflow diagram, when I do currently I can not get the swimlane to stay in the background.

Please post either a GraphML file or "before" and "after" screen shots of your workflow diagram. Otherwise it is very hard to understand what might go wrong.
