building a dependency tree with hierarchical view

Question

I have a complex dependency tree, that I am building with yed and each time I insert elements I use layout -> hierarchical to get a nice representation. How can I define that certain elements should be on the same level?

I tried with arcs in both directions but it didnt work.

Have you tried the different "Layer Assignment Policies" in the "Layers" tab (section) of the settings dialog of Layout > Hierarchical?

If the information which elements should go into the same level is not somehow intrinsic in your dependency tree (and thus deducible for at least one of the policies), you could still use "From Sketch" after you have roughly aligned your elements manually.
