How to maintain grouped nodes when performing "Convert to Document" in the Neighbourhood panel

0 votes
Example:

I select a node that has connections to other nodes and a group containing multiple nodes.

The neighbourhood panel populates with the selected node and the conecting nodes above and below.

I then right-click and select "Convert to Document"

Result:

A new document is created will the nodes and their connections, but without the contents of the contected groups.

Expected:

All nodes inside the connected group are brought into the new document at time of creation.

Is this possibe?

I am not sure I understand your use case. Would it be possible for you to upload screenshots of your diagram, the neighborhood displayed in the neighborhood view, and the result of the "Convert to Document" action? Aside from that, please tell me which version of yEd you are using.

As you see, after I "Convert to Document" The group is missing all the nodes it has in the first picture.

Thank you very much for the additional information.

When you use "Convert to Document" you get the diagram that is displayed in the neighborhood view. And that diagram displays the group without contents, too. (Which is the correct behavior if the selected node is connected to the group but not the group's contents.)

Ok. Thanks for the clarification.

So is it possible to extend the scope so that grouped nodes are displayed (as well as the group) in the neighbourhood in my example?
yEd currently does not offer a way to include the grouped nodes in the neighborhood view if they are not connected to the originally selected node.
Ok, thanks for your help.
