selection boundry of custom nodes

Question

I am trying to create my own symbols in Inkscape to import into yEd. I'm having a problem where to select my own symbols, I have to click directly on one of their paths/lines. This makes selecting them very hard, and I end up creating a new node in the middle.

 

What's the best way around this?

Answer 1

Either use marquee select (left-click on empty space, then drag the mouse across the node(s) you want to select) or create nodes that have a significant opaque portion.
