Can I layout a graph by timeline?

I'm interested in creating a graph of events that not only shows connected relationships (sometimes heirarchical relationships / tree) but also lets me run an auto-layout where the Y axis position of nodes is determined by their event time (timeline). Clearly this is do-able by hand but if I have thousands of nodes then auto-layout would be preferable

I'm a yED beginner. Great product BTW.
