yEd uses Java's built-in HTML framework which unfortunately supports only (a subset of) HTML 3.2.
Java's limited HTML support is the reason why it says "Note, however, that HTML rendering and support for HTML markup is limited to what the underlying Java Runtime Environment (JRE) supports." in the original answer to How can I achieve different text stylings within one label?.
