How can I make an object / objects non selectable

0 votes
I am using a set of elements as a background structure for multiple additional elements that are raised above the background set. Unfortunately I cannot make the backgrounfd elements non selectable which leads to mistakenly selecting some of the backgroud elements instead of / or in addition to the desired foreground element/s.

Is there any way to group or make a set of elements non-selectable? and of course always remain in the background.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to have elements that are not selectable in yEd.

As a workaround, create a document with only your background elements. Then export the background diagram as a PNG file. Finally, set your exported PNG as background (see "File" -> "Preferences" -> "Background") for your real diagram.

It will be one excelent improvement to mark one object as fixed, to avoid undesired move or resize actions on it.

I usually create boxes to show some objects are inside of a building and I send that box to the back of the document. If I click on a free space inside that box I'm selecting the box which moves to top and hides all the objects when I have it selected.
