Repeating arrows on line, user defined line type

In my graphs I have a lot of nodes with long edges (with attached tooltips). Would be nice to have a line type where the arrows repeating at every xy pixels to find out what is the direction of the edge when only a part is visible. User defined linetypes would be nice too, but apply the arrows periodically to the line maybe easier and simpler to implement.
