Is it possible to use yEd to generate hierarchical organizational charts (organogrammes) from spreadsheet data?

Yes, that is possible. Please have a look at the article about Excel Import in the yEd manual and the posts in this forum about Excel for more details on data input:

After importing, you can use the hierarchical layout or the tree layout algorithms to calculate a organigramm-style layout. Please let me know if you need more assistance.
