java.lang.NullPointerException when trying to open some groups

0 votes

Hi, some groups don't open when clicking on their opening "plus" icon. Instead, I have a java.lang.NullPointerException message. I tried to copy-paste to another document, to reload the yed program and to use the oneline version : same results. Any ideas ?

Which version of yEd are you using?
Which version of Java is yEd running on?
(See "Help" -> "About" for the corresponding information.)
Which operating system are you running yEd on?
Would it be possible for you to upload the GraphML file corresponding to your diagram? See How to upload files to yEd Q&A? for upload instructions.

You know, you could have used yEd's built-in error reporting tool which would have sent all the required information automatically.

Tanks for your quick answer.
Yed version : 3.12.2
Java version : 1.7.0-17
System : Windows 8.1

The following file is in french... ! but don't worry : under the blue group, you'll find a smallone called "logigramme" (which means flowchart"). This one causes problem. Or, in the left orange group, there is a grey one called "professions" that contains three smaller groups : "commerciales", "industrielles" et "artisanales". They 've got some problems too.

And, oh, I've tried to click the "send report" button many times as you adviced me but it didn't work as expected (instead, the error message again and again).

Thanks in advance.

So, you forced yEd to save your diagram in a legacy format that "may not store all information" and now you are wondering why it does not work anymore? yEd even tells you to "use a GraphML format instead":

I suggest following yEd's advices in the future!

Anyways, here is a fixed, GraphML version of your file.

By the way, thank you very much for mentioning that you tried the "Send Report" button. With your sample file, I was able to verify that the report breaks as well. We will improve this for a future version.

I must apologise, I thought that saving in YGF was the best and I didn't read carefully. Sometimes one tells you : "don't do that" and you think : "good advice that I'll follow after doing it anyway". That's silly but a proof that I am not a machine so I don't need to worry anymore of my nature ! Thanks again.
