Tool tips different text from node label text

Question

Hi, I'd like to have tool tips have different text from the node text. When you hovered over the node you'd see the information in the tool tip. It could have more information which was messy to display in the default graph, but useful to know when looking for issues in the graph content.

Select a node, go to the properties view in yEd's lower right corner, find the "Data" section and enter the desired tool tip text in field "Description".

It looks like I have to use GraphML instead of GML to get this... I'll be generating the graphs in real time via a Perl script so it's not a problemt o switch languages at this point.

You are right, node (and edge) descriptions are not stored in GML. Switching to GraphML is a very good idea, because it is the only graph exchange format that supports all the features available in yEd. (All the other graph exchange formats are considered legacy formats.)
