Bug Report: yEd crashes at Open Dialog

0 votes
File -> Open (File -> Save As, etc.), select Details view in the dialog box.

Various combinations of altering the column widths and clicking on the column headers (i.e. to sort the column) will crash yEd instantly without warning.

In bug reports always include the following information please.

  1. The version of yEd (see "Help" -> "About").
  2. The version of Java you are running yEd on (see "Help" -> "About").
  3. The operating system you are running yEd on.
  4. The actual error message.
  5. Step-by-step instructions for reproducing the error.

My bad. It was a quick bug report sent from my work laptop and I forgot.

yEd version: 3.12.2
Java version: 1.7.0_17
OS: Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bit (version 6.1.7601)
Error message: None - yEd simply closes and all unsaved work is presumably lost.
Step-by-step: as in original post.

If there is no error message, it is not a yEd defect but a problem with either Windows or Java. Unfortunately, we cannot do anything about it in both cases. You could try to run yEd on an up-to-date global Java installation instead of an embedded one, though.

(And no, the original post does not qualify as step-by-step instructions. "Various combinations of altering ..." is simply way too unspecific.)

OK Thomas,
My original post was fairly specific I thought because in the Save dialog box I could repeatably get it to crash in a couple of seconds, by simply widening any column (dragging the header separator) and clicking the header on a different column.
However, I can see your difficulty now. I just tried this same procedure on my home laptop and could not replicate the issue. It must be something specific to do with my work laptop.
I think we'll put this one to bed now.
