Can some edges be shorter or "tighter" than others based on key values?

Question

I can control the color and linetype of Edges as a function of Key values in the Edge elements. Can I do the same with the length or "tightness"?

I am creating maps of Folders, files and references between files. Btw I want edges between folders and files to be shorter than edges that shows references between files.

An edge have a Category value to know what sort of edge it is - like

<data key="Category">ReferencedFile</data>
