Can you have multiple instances of a node?

+2 votes
Is it possible to have one node that is displayed in several places. Am putting together some Use Case diagrams and am using the Group Nodes to separate areas of functionality. If I want the same Actor to be displayed in more than one place can I do this without copying and pasting?

The motivation for being able to do this would be to have the ability to edit a single node such as the Actor, and have it updated accros the entire graph/diagram.

Thanks!

It's not possible to clone or link/group elements in such a way.

If your nodes are sufficiently different, you may want to have a look at the 'Select Matching Elements' command from the context menu of any symbol in 'Current Elements' palette section which can be used to select and edit similar elements at once. It's even possible to configure which properties are used to distinguish symbols. For more details, please see the yEd manual

Thanks for the speedy response!

The "Select Matching Elements" looks perfect.
