How to Prevent Edge Lines from Crossing Group Titles in Hierarchical Layout?

0 votes
Hello,

I am using yEd version 3.24 to create a flowchart with a hierarchical layout. Some nodes are organized into groups with titles displayed at the top of each group. However, I’m facing an issue where edge lines cross over the group titles, making the diagram harder to read.

Is there a way to configure the hierarchical layout to ensure that edge lines avoid crossing the group titles automatically?

Thank you for your assistance!

Well, you could change the layout orientation to left-to-right or right-to-left (see tab "General" of the hierarchic layout settings).

Another option would be to use the single-cell BPMN pool node whose header label is on the left instead of on the top. (There is a downside to this approach, though: you cannot collapse pool nodes.)

Unfortunately, there is not much else you can do.
