How to map nodes from an excel edge list to custom symbols?

0 votes
I am trying to make my excel import use specific custom symbols to represent  nodes. I don't want to use the same node-ymbol for all the nodes in the graph.

Is this somehow possible? - Maybe by mapping custom properties to visual properties?

THANKS A LOT FOR YOUR HELP

That's indeed possible with the Properties Mapper tool: http://yed.yworks.com/support/manual/properties_mapper.html

In more details, you need a custom property (aka column in Excel) that represents the node symbol. Any discrete data like different numbers or names will do. In properties mapper, create a new configuration and select the radio button 'Multiple Templates' to add a mapping to node templates (symbols). Then, select this mapping and add as many single mappings in the lower part of the dialog as you need.

As target symbol, you can use all symbols that are part of the palette. Symbols in user-defined palette sections will work as well: http://yed.yworks.com/support/manual/palette_manager.html

Thanks a lot. You really saved me a lot of further frustration. Obvious option in the menu but I was just to blind to find it myself.
