Grouping edges with the same text

Hi,

I am importing data from Excel to generate a graph using the Hierarchic layout

It works pretty well but I would like to group edges which have the same label text so it can be displayed like the nodes belong to the same "bus"

It seems possible to do it using the Tools->Constraint->Edge grouping feature but I don't understand how to make it work

Any hint?

It is possible, but it requires a lot of manual work.

1. Open "Tools" -> "Constraints" -> "Edge Grouping".
2. Check "Remove all Grouping Constraints".
3. Click "Ok".
4. Select all edges with a given label text. (Use "Tools" -> "Select Elements" for this.)
5. Open "Tools" -> "Constraints" -> "Edge Grouping" again.
6. Uncheck "Remove all Grouping Constraints".
7. Set "Configuration Method" to "Manually".
8. Decide on a "name" for the edge group you want to create. (If your label text is something short like one word, that text will most likely work well.)
9. Enter the name from step 8 in fields "Group Id at Source" and "Group Id at Target".
10. Click "Ok".
11. Repeat steps 4 to 10 for each edge group you want to create. Be sure to use a different name each time.
12. Run "Layout" -> "Hierarchic".
