Groups - open vs. closed

Question

As far as I see "opened and closed groups" not only differ in their size - I can define the area of a closed group bigger then the size of its closed state. The can have different forms - and maybe different content.

It this right?

Is there a detailed description of this feature?

While a group may have different size and shape for open and closed states (really any visual property may differ between the open and the closed state), it is not possible to have different content.
