Java problem when import Excel file

0 votes

Hi

I am unable to import Excel files into yEd. When i click the Adopt button on the Edge List data fields, I get a message that says:

yEd has encountered the following error: java.lang.NullPointerException

Please check if a more recent version of yEd or Java is available since this problem may already be resolved in the latest version.
Otherwise, please consider reporting this error and have a look at the yEd forum and the yEd manual which may contain more information.

This happens on both my Mac OSX and Windows machines.

I have both the latest version of yEd (3.10.2) and of Java (version 7 build 17).

I can email you the error log if that helps?

Thanks

In general, the error log helps us a lot since it shows us the exact code location that caused the error. In this specific case, it would be even more helpful if you can upload the Excel file and screen shots of the settings of the Excel import dialog to this post. File upload is described here:
  http://yed.yworks.com/support/qa/1734/

If your file contains confidential information, you can email to yed@yworks.com instead.

Which version of yEd are you using?
Please post the complete error message.
Please upload an Excel file to reproduce the problem as explained by Michael above.
