How to assign names to the elements of user-defined palettes?

When creating a new user-defined palette, how to assign names for the different nodes and enable tooltips to appear when hovering over the elements, as it happens with the yEd native palettes?

  1. Right-click the header of your user-defined palette section,
  2. choose "Convert to Document",
  3. select a node (or edge) in the new document,
  4. specify the desired tool tip the "Palette ToolTip" property of the selected item,
  5. repeat steps 3 and 4 until all items have the desired tool tip,
  6. open the palette section context menu of your user-defined section once again, and
  7. choose "Adopt from Document".
