How to resize nested swimlanes without destroying the complete pool structure?

How to resize nested swimlanes without getting ghost space in between? (see the example below)?
As the swimlanes do not contain the elements dropped in them when we add or remove elements we need to resize the whole pool structure. In complex diagrams, this is a pretty time-consuming task which may also result in misplaced elements. Hence it would be immensely helpful to know how to do that without having to re-draw the pool from scratch and move the diagram back in the pool any time one needs to make changes in the diagram.

This is an error in the resize behavior of columns and rows. Thank you very much for pointing us to this problem.
