I want to write the lettering on the outside of the circle

Either click your label and drag it to the desired position outside of the corresponding node or assign a "Placement" policy that places the label at a fixed position outside of its node (e.g. "Corners", "Sandwich, "Sides", and "8 Pos" all place labels outside of their respective nodes).
