Hi all, so I've been playing around now for a few hours trying to install the software yEd for MAC OS X 10.10.5 Yosemite. Each time I get as far as having dragged the software into applications, having imported it, but then when I go to 'run' the application (to actually install it), I get asked if I am sure I want to open the program given it's an internet download. When I select 'open', the program simply closes - removes itself from the dock.
After this happens once I can't reopen it (doesn't reappear in the dock but it does glitch as though it's trying).
Fixes I've tried so far are: re-installing Java (current version 8), setting my privacy to accept programs from 'anywhere' in system settings, uninstalling and reinstalling several times.
I have also tried downloading the .zip folder for the java files and it appears for that I can simply open the direct java file (under yed-3.20.1 > lib > yed.jar) and it opens and looks to be the full yEd program, but I'm cautious to use the software this way in case it corrupts my files.
Any thoughts or suggestions for how to deal with this? P.S. I am not a developer so clear steps would be sincerely appreciated.
