Select multiple nodes and change to specific shapes and color

0 votes
Hi Experts

I have a big network plot with lots of nodes, labeled as: 1.0, 2.0,...1000.0

By default, all nodes are yellow and in ellipse shapes. I want to select some of the nodes, say 1.0, 5.0, 10.0, 101.0,... and change their shapes to rectangle and color these nodes to red, is there an automatic way to relaize my idea?

I know I can hold shift to select multiple nodes and change their properties views, but I cannt manually click thousands of times. I believe there is a more efficient way.

Thank you for your help

If the nodes to select have nothing in common, like it seems to be the case for nodes 1, 5, 10, 101, I don't see any practical way to select them instead using the manual method.

If the nodes are close together, you can select all nodes in a rectangular area by dragging a selection rectangle with the mouse. The shift modifier works for this, too, and allows you to combine multiple selection areas.

If the nodes have consecutive labels, for example the nodes in the range 23-31, the best way is to use the structure view. This supports range selections similar to for example Windows Explorer by first selecting the start node and then clicking the end node while Shift is pressed.

Last but not least, there is the "Select Elements" tool which allows the selection of nodes and edges according to several predefined criteria.
