adding custom menu to yEd

I would like to add thin layer of custom functionality (external to yEd)  to yEd and create custom menu witih yEd to access it.

Is it possible?

Unfortunately, it is currently not possible to add custom menues and/or menu entries in yEd. So, categorizing your post as a feature request was the right thing to do. ;-)
