Is there a way to set the default text font/size?

Question

The referenced procedure means copying everything about the template node. It's style, corners, everything. What I'm looking for is the ability to change the default text for all nodes everywhere.

A template solution just saves a node, letting you rebuild it later. I want to change the base properties of everything.
