differences between png and svg export

I want to export my diagram as an svg. Unfortunately, the svg export seems to ignore aligning text/labels and other options so that it does not look like the diagram that I made.

PNG export:

As svg export (converted to png afterwards so that I can upload it here):

How to export to svg so that alignments are kept?

It seems like text placement is wrong for SVG export. However, that does not seem to be always the case (i.e. text placement is correct on our test machines). For this reason, I would like to ask:

  • On which operating system are you using yEd?
  • Which version of Java are you using (see "Help" -> "About")?
  • Can you upload your diagram in GraphML format here? Please see How to upload files to yEd Q&A? for instructions on uploading files here.
  • Can you upload a screenshot of your SVG export settings here?

Hi, thanks for the answer. I exported the SVG on my macbook and it looks fine with this java version:
java version "1.8.0_111"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_111-b14)
Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.111-b14, mixed mode)

The Java version on my work PC running on CentOS Linux release 7.3.1611 (Core) where the svg is not working is:
openjdk version "1.8.0_201"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_201-b09)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.201-b09, mixed mode)

Here is the svg file that is not working.

and here are the settings:

The attached SVG seems to be displayed correctly in all major browsers.

Is this actually the one that is not displayed correctly on your end? If so, I'd assume that the viewer with which you open the SVG somehow visualizes it differently. What viewer do you use? Can you also try to open it in a browser? (e.g. Firefox, Chrome, ...)?
