Manual does not tell you how to actually import data from excel

I do not find the "import dialog". The manual assumes that I have launched the import - but I do not find any button or similar.

"File" -> "Open". In the file chooser dialog choose "MS Excel 97/2000/XP (*.xls)" or "MS Excel 2007 XML (*.xlsx)" as file type.
