How to best organise a complex Nexus figure?

0 votes
I would like to make a Nexus diagram, so have about 5 nodes (e.g. climate, land, water etc) and connect these with activities (e.g. hydropower connects water to energy). There is no hierarchial need as all are treated "as important". I also do not want the edges to cross.

Which is the best layout algoritm and configuration for this? I have tried most of them, but either the layout makes some edges not visible, or some edges are crossing eachother or a node.

Thanks!

If all nodes are equally important, orthogonal layout and organic layout should work well. Both algorithms try to minizme edge crossing.
