Searched but didn't find - and probably a feature not for yEd but for yFiles. I'll give it a try anyway as a question that might actually be a feature request...

We can drag/drop images out of browsers, but I don't think we can drag much more onto the canvas!? It would be nice though, to be able to drop files from the file explorer as nodes that include their path name. Is that possible? In essence importing a file / directory structure.

Unfortunately, importing directories as diagrams in this way is currently not possible in yEd.

Hi,
There is work around on this issue of importing/Opening directory in Yed.
Select the Node/Entity you want to link directory. Go to Data by clicking properties. And in Property go to URL and select any file in directory you want to Open. Before applying that option go to url address and just delete file name, keeping all remaining url address intact. Now click apply and you are set.
Next time when you select that node and press Command + L it will open the said directory. I have tried and it works. Hope this helps.
