I cannot create nodes at all.

I just downloaded yED, and I have tried dragging the node to the canvas, I have tried click on it, but nothing is working. How do I create a node?

Well, dragging node templates from yEd's palette into yEd's editor area should always work. What does happen if you try to do that? On what operating system are you using yEd?

That said, if you install yEd for the first time, creating nodes by clicking on the background is deactivated. You may activate this feature in "File" -> "Preferences", tab "Editor", option "Create Node on Background Click".
