Can yEd constrain the movement of the selection along X or Y axis?

While moving a selection, can I constrain the movement to X or Y axis, by pressing a modifier key while I drag the selection with mouse?

Blender 3D (a 3D modeler software) has this feature, and it is excellent. The trick is simple: we have to press the X or Y key to apply the constraint while the selection is being dragged. If we release the X or Y key, the dragging becomes constraint-free.

yEd does not offer this feature.

However, when moving elements yEd will by default snap to the original x- and y-coordinates when snap lines are active. I strongly recommend using snap lines, they are really a great tool for positioning elements.

On deeper thinking, I guess this logic is right: Blender has an xyz origin, and the absolute placement of any object needs to be controlled precisely. That's why we need constraints in dragging objects.

But yEd has no origin (even in 2D space). So only the RELATIVE placement (vis-a-vis other objects) is important. And the snap lines handle that very well.

Therefore we do not need movement constraints.

Thanks for the explanation!
