Why are BPMN flows not "bridged" when they cross each other?

BPMN flows are not "bridged" when crossing each other. Is this on purpose?

Bridges for BPMN edges are on our Todo list. And although we are currently imrpoving BPMN support (see the BPMN related improvements in yEd 3.9.1 and yEd 3.9.2), we do not yet know when that feature will be available.
