when I try to open a file it will not display the file and it will not let me create a file that can be viewed.

I have installed the latest version of yed on my mac running 10.7.2 OS

I can open the application but when I try to open a file it will not display the file and it will not let me create a file that can be viewed. it shows a tab that I have opened a new untitled but I am not able to do anything with it or even view the tools

 

Please help
