extra labels on class nodes

Hi again, and thanks for the quick reply last time.

I see it's not a bug. However, I would like to see additional labels to calss nodes become a feature, as it would make things easier with layering additional labels (at the moment extra shape nodes) and moving class nodes around. I like and use class nodes a lot, and this feature would make it perfect for my use cases.

As mentioned in my other question, additional labels can be added, but desn't get rendered. Let me know if it can become a reality or not.

Having default path follow the file

When I double-click a graphML file, and then do an export (or a Save As...), the default path to save the file is always the last used folder for the xport (or the Save As).

Is there a way to have the default path be the folder of the active document being exported (or Saved As) ?

I am importing a huge BPM (broken into node and edgelist in excel)

It consists of many individual processes which not all are linked together in one network, but rather many networks.

Is it possible in Yed to isolate the various networks? Or do I have to do that in excel before importing the data?

It seems that not possible to map a property to group text (title) - using property mapper. Label text doesn't works (13.3).

When during import from excel I not use Presentation>Configuration, Group text imported OK, otherwise not.

Hello,

Currently the only way to search (that I know of)

is the Structure View Window --> Search field

but it's limited only to finding the begining sequence of the text

and only a single instance.

This is very limiting as my graph has more than a 1000 nodes,

all with text inside them, and I cannot do a proper search on it,

other than opening it in an external text editor and using the search function there.

Could you please add some more functionality to the search ?

Bug report -vs- feature.

OS: Linux mint v16 running cinnamon

Launch yEd and a version check dialog will appear offering to upgrade from 3.12 to 3.12.2. Two buttons showing - [Visit yEd Homepage] [OK].

Click [Visit yEd Homepage] - an error dialog will display reporting:

Error attempting to launch web browser: Could not find web browser.

A default web browser has been assigned as the command path exists so the homepage should be accessible for an upgrade download:

I'm using yEd and it's really awesome, never seen something cool like that.

But today I've noticed some strange behavior.

For example the navigation mode, do you really need this?

I think, pressing the space key to move around the view will be user friendlier and more effective while using your software. There is a similar function in Photoshop.

The Zoom is really confusing too. If you scroll with your mouse wheel, the perspective zooms in or out. A normal user awaits a scroll function to scroll up and down and if you press shift and using the mouse wheel it should zoom.

It will be easier to learn how your software can be used, if you implement user familiar functionallity =)

I don't want to order how you should programm your software.

Just want to ask what do you think about my ideas.

Tabbed interfaces generally have the shortcuts Ctrl+Tab and Ctrl+Shift+Tab to allow the user to easily switch between the various open documents.

yEd is missing these shortcuts.

This is very basic - Visio has it. You need to add this. It's word wrap inside shapes. Your tutorial says to press F2 to type text and hit Shift+Enter to start a new line. This is terrible. I want to type the whole phrase and have the text wrap automatically to fill the text box. Thank you.

Enhance Excel import with grouping function

Could you enhance import so, that i could import grouping information as well?
I.e. no edges as such, but functions A, B, C belong inside group CRM and D,E into Email, F, G, H, I belong to eCommerce platform etc. So, i want to map things like tasks to applications, business processes to applications or corporate functions etc

Could you please set default behaviour of mouse wheel to scroll page? For instance, I wish this:

scroll vertical bar by simple scroll,
scroll horizontal bar by Shift + scroll,

And about zooming, please use these instead:

zoom in: Ctrl + Scroll Up
zoom out: Ctrl + Scroll Down

At least, scrolling page is default feature of scroll button, so please don't change its behaviour...

Adding a way to import group nodes

I'm trying to import data from an Excel file. It contains processes and subprocesses.

I would like the processes to be created in group nodes and the subprocesses in simple nodes.

It is currently possible to search through nodes or edges via only one text field, the "main label".

Text driven research should be possible on additional fields. Thus :

Description,
URL,
Custom Properties,
...

should also be researchable.

Such a behaviour of the find/selector functions would enhance the power of research through graphs. In addition it would increase the interest of tailor-made custom properties.

Is it possible to import more than just the names from a Gedcom file?

Unless I am missing something, it seems only the names are imported from .ged files, while it could be interresting to allow the user select what has to be imported (e.g. birth dates, death dates).

I have graph with list of custom properties in edges.

When i do copy&paste a part of the graph, all the properties of edges are lost (empty).

Context View Limitations for High Edge Density Nodes

I'm not sure if this is a limitation for yEd or what, but certain nodes in my graph never display in a context view, the neighborhood or successors windows remain empty. These only appear to happen for nodes with high edge densities.

How to import .ged file with accents on characters ?

I try to open a genealogy file, "gedcom" format, that contains french names with characters like 'é', 'è', 'ç', etc...

These characters are replaced by '?' while opening the ged file in yEd.

I suppose it is a matter of charecter encoding (?) Can you help ?

A very cool feature for presenting your graph/diagram is the ability to put a long text in a nodes 'data' field.

That way you can have a less cluttered diagram, and simply mouseover interesting nodes and get the text in a readable size.

However: The not-so-cool thing is that the tooltip auto-closes after a few seconds, making it impossible to read a semi-long explanation without constantly having to re-mouseover and finding your place in the text again.

I propose that the time limit is removed on node-tooltips

Dear Sirs,

referring to BPMN 2.0 Poster EN and BPMN 2.0 Poster DE, there are more inner symbols for events or activities. Is there a way to get them into the according drop box list? E.g. instead of being able to select between (Loop,Parallel,Ad Hoc) for activities select between (Loop,Parallel,Ad Hoc, Sequential and Compensation)

It would be nice to be able to draw BPMN 2.0, most of it requires IMHO only small additions to existing symbol catalogs.Just have a look at above mentioned posters.

An option in the settings to hide the open/close (expand/collapse) sign when exporting/printing group nodes would be great!

Being able to hide the open/close sign in the editor, through the context menu of a group node, for example, would also be interesting, of course...

PDF export with size of the exported diagram

Currently, no matter how small the diagram is, the page size is always an entire DIN A4 page (with the exported diagram centered on it).

It would be nice, if the PDF's "page" size could adapt to the actual size of the exported diagram, i.e. become smaller than A4.
In particular, this would facilitate using (importing) the exported PDF in other documents.
