Predecessor nodes won't show if attached to more than one 'layer' of successor node

Question

Hi there, I am trying to get the predecessor view to show all the links in a certain change, and it works find as long as nothing links to one that one layer beneath it. In the 'correct' image the green node's relation to the purple and blue nodes displays properly, but in the 'incorrect' image, the green node's relationship to the yellow node seems to override its links to the purple and blue node. Is there a way I can set thing situation up so that it will show the relationships correctly?
