How are partitive relationships created in yEd?

0 votes
What is the easiest way to illustrate whole-part-relationships in yEd? I don't seem to find a way to actually just draw an edge from one node and then divide it between subnodes, like in this example:  http://www.languageinindia.com/march2002/entailment2.jpg

The only way I have managed to do this is by dragging edges from one node to another and then back again to the first one.

Thank you!

In yEd, you need to use multiple edges. E.g. for your sample diagram, this would mean five outgoing edges  at node "body" (one to "head", one to 'neck", etc.) and four outgoing edges at node "leg" (one to "thigh", one to "lower leg", etc.). Then arrange your graph with bus-style routing or edge groups respectively. E.g when using layout algorithm "Hierarchical" activate option "Automatic Edge Grouping" on tab "Edges" and for layout algorithm "Tree" choose the "Directed" layout style with "Orthogonal Edge Routing" and port style "Node Centered" or "Border Centered".
