There should be a clone tool like in inkscape, i.e. an object should appear in more than one place in the graph.

yEd supports copy/paste of its elements. What functionality does clone provide that copy/paste does not?

If one changes the original object, the copied/pasted object (the copy) is not changed.
With clone all cloned objects receive changes of the original.
This is especially useful if the original object has a complex structure and you want to change it afterwards and have all copies updated.

You can use the Current Elements in palette section.

Right click on the node in section Current Elements let you make changes for all same nodes by Select matching elements anc Configure Distinctive Features. Enjoy.
